Applications of FIDA in Protein Science
FIDA (Flow-Induced Dispersion Analysis) allows rapid measurement of protein size in solution and can be done with or without a fluorescent label. We can use this information to study both functional and structural properties, evaluating protein stability, activity, and ligand binding – and this all can be done in solution using a single instrument. At Sygnature Discovery, we have used FIDA for measuring protein stability, oligomeric state and aggregation. We have also measured protein-ligand interactions, protein-protein/nucleic acid interactions, unfolding, liquid-liquid phase separation, and fluorophore environment changes.
