Sitagliptin Improves Glucose Tolerance in Insulin-Resistant Rodents

Glucose tolerance testing via a variety of routes, i.e. OGTT, ipGTT, ivGTT) in mice and rats is a measure of how efficiently an exogenously delivered glucose load is cleared from the blood. Moreover, the corresponding change in plasma insulin is indicative of insulin sensitivity. As such, this acute assay is an effective tool to assess the antidiabetic potential of novel drug therapies. We can also perform insulin tolerance tests (ITT).

Sitagliptin improves glucose clearance in models of varying insulin resistance (i.e. normal (lean mice), moderately impaired (DIO mice) and severely impaired (ob/ob mice))
